Yes kids, it’s true… summer is still here. With the beautiful weather that is supposed to continue, summer is decidedly still here. Here’s the scoop on upcoming events…
Cars, cars and more cool cars…
Just stroll through beautiful, little Egg Harbor and take in the views… water views and views of cars. Harbor View Park downtown on Saturday.
August 16, 17 and 18th
31st Annual Valmy Thresheree & Antique Machinery Show
“Because of their interest in preserving the heritage, history and machinery of previous generations of farming, back in 1983 Bernie and Shirley Geisel asked a group of local farmers to produce a show that would bring back the old ways of farming, including working machinery.” –http://www.jacksonport.net/valmy-thresheree/
The antique machinery is really pretty cool and there is a chain saw competition, food, beverages even a Polka band followed by a Polka mass on Saturday night. Not to be left out there will be a Lutheran service on Sunday morning. The biggest draw is… wait for it… Mud Pig Wrestling. Yes, you heard me correctly.
Not into that kind of thing? How about a nice candlelight beach walk at Whitefish Dunes State Park. 7:30-9:30 pm.
August 24 Taste of Egg Harbor
Haven’t we all wanted to check out those beautiful barns at Horseshoe Bay? Barns+Food=Win, Win
Death’s Door BBQ on Washington Island
Barbeque sold by competitors… just like on TV. Egg Harbor’s own Matthew Peterson from Casey’s BBQ and Smokehouse will be competing. These just aren’t your average backyard grillers folks, these people are pros. I am hungry just thinking about it. Don’t want to bring your vehicle? Don’t, the Washington Island Ferry will be offering rides to the event on the BBQ Train. Check it all out here.
August 31 Sister Bay Marina Fest
Pancake breakfast, food booths, live music, dancing, children’s craft tent. Waterboard Warriors, ski show and fireworks. Now that’s a days worth of fun.
