HIDDEN GEMS OF DOOR COUNTY

THE GARDEN DOOR — if you love gardening, you don’t want to miss these beautiful gardens.  The gardens are free and located at 4312 Hwy. 42, Sturgeon Bay.

ELLISON BLUFF STATE NATURAL AREA — awesome views, great hiking trails.  Located at 12050 Ellison Bluff Road in Ellison Bay.

 

DEATH’S DOOR MARITIME MUSEUM — This museum traces the area’s commercial fishing tradition in Door County.  It is located at 127424 W. Wisconsin Bay Road, Ellison Bay.

 

DOOR BLUFFS HEADLANDS PARK — near Gills Rock on the north end of Door County.  The shoreline and vegetation of the park are mostly untouched.

 

TOFT POINT STATE NATURAL AREA —  hike one mile in and find the former homestead and guest cabins of the Toft family.  You can also enjoy the walk out to the cobblestone shoreline in a forest that feels very remote and located in Baileys Harbor.

 

HICKEY BROTHERS FISH MARKET — If you want fresh fish to take home you must experience the market.   It’s located at 8096 Ridges Road in Baileys Harbor.  

 

SCHOOLHOUSE BEACH, WASHINGTON ISLAND — The shoreline is covered with millions of small smooth stones.  It’s one of five of it’s kind in the world.

 

WHITE CLIFF FEN AND FOREST PRESERVE — north of Egg Harbor, the preserve features 100 acres of forests and wetlands.
